Questioning Evolution

Why is it we liberals seem to get so butt hurt when someone questions evolution? We tend to be just as defensive when someone questions this one scientific theory as Christians when someone questions creationism. I made a simple comment that I have a few issues with evolution, and I was immediately jumped on for saying it on a forum.

So what did I say that was so offensive to the liberal mind? I simply stated that I had a few long term issues with evolution. Among them was the fact that their a multiple gaps in the fossile records that tend to not support evolution as we know it. Another problem is the fact that for evolution to have taken place as it's most commonly presented, well the odds would have been so astronomical that it's highly unlikiely.

Dr. Harold Morowitz, former professor of biophysics at Yale University, estimated that the probability of the chance formation of the smallest, simplest form of living organism known is 1 out of 10^340,000,000. One out of ten to the 340 millionth power is unimaginable odds.

I consider these reasonable doubts, yet most liberals seem to be somehow offended if you question these ideas. They defend them with the same vigor that christians defend creationism... So why are liberals so ass hurt?
