Mypoints

Ok this has nothing to do with politics, just something that has been annoying the hell out of me. I use Mypoints, I have since it's inception years ago. It's one of these sites you sign up for and recieve emails, click links and get points. I like them because many of the online sites I shop at such as NewEgg and netflix has offers on them so I get points for using them which I would anyways. You then use the points for gift cards to resturants, wal-mart... you get the picture.

Well recently that started sending out these survey's. You fill out the survey and if you qualify you get more points. Ok now the part that makes me want to strangle Mypoints. Does a survey really require 40 questions to determine if I qualify or not? Nothing better then spending 10 minutes filling out survey questions for it to decide you do not qualify and gives you zero points. 40 questions.... really!?

Sandford was boinking mistress on taxpayer dime!

From the AP:

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford shed his fiscal conservatism on several taxpayer-funded international trips, including a South American jaunt that included time with his mistress, choosing expensive first-class or business-class seats while his aides sat in coach.

Sanford, who once criticized other state officials for costly travel, charged the state more than $37,600 for one first-class and four business-class flights overseas since November 2005, expense records show. Other state employees flew in the back of the plane at a fraction of the price, according to the documents.

It's official, Glen Beck is a moron!

The clip starts out with Beck mocking a caller, and ends with him sounding like an animal. He then goes into the usual Republican talking points and pulls some information out of his ass.

Bush Administration lied about CIA program.

From The New York Times:

The Central Intelligence Agency withheld information about a secret counter terrorism program from Congress for eight years on direct orders from former Vice President Dick Cheney, the agency’s director, Leon E. Panetta, has told the Senate and House intelligence committees, two people with direct knowledge of the matter said Saturday.

The report that Mr. Cheney was behind the decision to conceal the still-unidentified program from Congress deepened the mystery surrounding it, suggesting that the Bush administration had put a high priority on the program and its secrecy.

Now keep in mind the penguin nor Bush had the legal authority to hide these programs. I am no lawyer but how is hiding information from congress then lying not a felony? You can read the full story here.

One last note, the program in question is believed to be a CIA assassination program.

Congressman Hates on Michael Jackson

Just a follow up on the article I posted earlier. It rather proves my point.

Guilty until proven innocent...

Why is it in our society we have a tendency to look upon people accused of sex crimes as guilty until proven innocent? And in many cases even if those accused are found innocent they still carry the stigmata of being accused for the rest of their lives.

I have to admit what has me cranky about this is the recent coverage of Michael Jackson's life. I keep hearing people say they are glad he's dead, and how he was a horrible pedophile. Yes he was a strange, strange man but I just don't accept that he should be labeled as some kind of monster when there is very little proof he ever did anything wrong.

What bothers me is his first accuser's family settled for money, Let me ask you if your child was abused would you be out for cash or blood? I think this should cause serious doubt in anyones mind. Unfortunately after this first go around he should of cut off any contact with minors, but because he loved children he was foolish enough to stay in a situation where anyone looking for a quick buck could exploit the situation.

Look I'm all for protecting our children but I think we as a society have went off the deep end when it comes to this type of thing. People think everyone who smiles at their child in the store wants to molest them, It's gotten rather ridiculous. Another thing that is out of hand is these registry lists for sex offenders. A 18 year old who sleeps with his high school girlfriend who is 16 can be slapped with statutory rape and forced to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. And don't say it doesn't happen, there have been numerous cases of this.

And recently we have the case of a young girl who posted nude pics of herself on MySpace, she was charged with distribution of child porn... And now under Megan's law she could be forced to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

As I said we need to protect our children, but we also need to find a balance where the laws put into place to do it are not abused by overly zealous prosecutors. We also as a society have to stop this insane attitude that anyone who is even remotely accused of doing something needs to be locked away for life. I truly feel sorry for anyone who is falsely accused of these crimes, I cant imagine a worse feeling then being treated as if you are guilty before you even have your day in court... And if you are found innocent it can still haunt you for the rest of your life.

If anyone has the chance they should watch the documentary Witch Hunt on MSNBC, it tells the tale of a man who was locked away for 20 years of his life only to be released after his accusers recanted their stories and admitted nothing happened. When did this become acceptable?

Tom Ridge smacks down Rush!

Looks like even Republicans are getting sick of Rush Limbaugh and his insane rantings. Here is a quote from Tom Ridge the former Republican governor of Pennsylvania.

"I'm so sick of Rush Limbaugh, He's the reason we losse elections and he needs to get the hell out of the Republican party. As far as I am concerned the man is not a Republican anymore, he is running and hiding he's to scared to face me."

"He sits there in his "southern command post" and destroys the Republican party. I would just like to have just three rounds in a boxing ring with that guy so I could shut him up. I'm calling you out Limbaugh, let's see if you have a big enough set of marbles to back up your crap."

Finally a moderate Republican who decided to not take crap from the extreme right.

Conservatives love porn...

I was reading a study done by Harvard Business School that sampled credit card data taken from 2006 to 2008. The data was supplied to them by online porn sites, they then took the data and cross referenced the postal codes of users to find which areas of the country are the biggest porn buyers. And the results are surprising... sorta.

Well it turns out that the more Conservative the state is the more they buy porn. And the most popular state for porn? Utah... yup Mormons love porn apparently. In fact 8 out of the top 10 states for porn consumption voted for McCain. They also found that states that ban gay marriage have a much higher rate of porn buyers then states that allow it.

They also found that states where people claim to have strong, traditional morale values purchased porn at a rate of almost 4 times more then other states.

Hmm Mr. Republican are you sexually repressed much?

The Death of Wikipedia

Something a little different folks. Wikipedia for a time was a valuable community resource where anyone could contribute information. Sadly it's turned into nothing more then a small group of "wiki inner circle" who control just about all the editing that is done on the site. And unless you are in this small inner circle of Wiki nerds, sadly you are not welcome.

I had heard from many people the horror stories of how these Wiki Nazi's will shut down any content that they do not specifically approve. But I had never experienced it first hand myself until today. As many have said Bloggers are not welcome on Wikipedia, Apparently that is true. You know the section at the bottom of a Wikipedia page that has outside resource links, Well I posted a link to one of my blogs on one of them. Keep in mind I have seven years of real world experience on the subject, and unlike the other two links my blog had actual useful real world information.

In under 30 seconds it was removed, no explanation except that it was "nonconstructive". Apparently a four page article with information anyone interested in the subject should know is "nonconstructive". Anyways I've decided I will not use Wikipedia anymore, If I want the flow of what I am allowed to read or write controlled I would move to Iran.

Michele Bachmann owned by her own party!

Everyone knows crazy Michele Bachmann, the insane congress woman from Minnesota. Well last week she came out and said how Republicans should not fill out the 2010 census because mean ole President Obama may come grab your family and stick them internment camps.

Well besides being oh I don't know ILLEGAL to not fill out the census it's also horrible advice. If a large group of people fail to fill out the 2010 census it means the area could be under counted and they could lose a Congressional seat... and guess who's district would most likely be on the chopping block... yup you guessed it Bachman's.

So today her fellow Republican members of congress Reps. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina, Lynn Westmoreland of Georgia, and John Mica of Florida had this to say.

"boycotting the constitutionally-mandated census is illogical, illegal and not in the best interest of our country."

Ouch, that's gotta sting.
